Appearance


  • Approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inch in length

  • Come in a variety of colors usually are yellowish to brown

  • Flat with one pair of legs on most of their segments

Behavior


  • Need lots of moisture

  • Normally live outdoors in damp areas such as mulch, compost and flower beds

  • If they move indoors, they hide in most areas such as basements, closets or bathrooms

  • When disturbed, they move swiftly

Diet


  • Insects and spiders. Some species feed on plants
