Appearance
- Can be up to one inch in length
- Yellow and black in color with hairy bodies giving them a fuzzy appearance

- Sometimes, nests are found above ground in wood piles or attics
- Can sting multiple times
- Colonies die when the weather gets cold
- Fertilized queens overwinter and begin new colonies each spring
