Appearance
- About one half inch in length
- A member of the wasp family
- These insects are the smallest in the family
- Black with bright yellow markings
Behavior
- Social insects
- Very aggressive if their nest is approached and will defend their nests
- Nests are usually located in the ground
- However, they also can be found inside walls, attics, crawl spaces or in cracks in foundations
- Can sting a number of times
- New colonies begin each spring
